BALAYAGE

balayage

Recently I decided to change my hair up. I love being blonde, I always feel nice and fresh and just love the colour my hair stylist gives me. But I feel like I need a bit of a change. I have done balayage before, when I was pregnant with Noah. I wanted something that was low maintenance, cheaper (in the long run, because that was an expensive salon visit!) and also because it was a new thing and as all new things go, I wanted to get on board.

This time I was inspired from my trip back home to Australia (read all about it here) the low maintenance is still a big reason, I am tired of going to the salon every 7 weeks, but another reason is to have the ‘easy going’ look. Balayage, to me gives off a beachy look. I do realise where I live is basically in the prairies far, far away from water/beach/ocean. But it’s in my blood, so that’s enough.

However, trying balayage out again, makes me VERY nervous. I have in my mind what I would like, but my biggest worry is that I won’t get what I have pictured in my mind. The change will seem drastic at first. My hair stylist has to put in a darker colour first so she can then blend the look by feathering in blonde. Overtime, the darker colour will fade and more blonde will show through, giving an all over much lighter colour, whilst still looking natural as the darker colour will also blend with my natural colour. At least that’s what I understood from what she explained.

So, naturally, when I need inspiration and visuals of anything I go straight to Pinterest (follow me here). I have compiled my favourites and I will be taking this to my stylist so we are on the same page. Fingers crossed. My hair appointment is Saturday!

Stay tuned!

  1. I had no idea what “bayalage” was. I learned a new term today! Getting a new hairstyle is always a scary thing for me as a few years ago I had my hair cut by someone who cut it way too short and didn’t do as I requested. 🙁 I know it is just hair but it really made me unhappy with the results. LOL

Wishing you a great experience and looking forward to you posting your results!

    1. Thank you! I know it can be referred to say ombre, although they are two different styles!
I absolutely get it, I have had a few bad experiences before! Which is probably why I am nervous. Although possibly vein, good hair really can mean a lot to us!
