I have been a blonde for many years now. My natural colour is brown, with one of two greys that I just found recently – and Yes, I did have a dramatic meltdown! I always wanted blonde hair, I remember spraying my hair with that ‘sun in’ spray when I was like 12 or 13, I don’t know what’s in it but it works with the sun and lightens/bleaches your hair lighter, surprisingly it didn’t turn into a complete disaster, not exactly the cool blonde though.
But, Blonde hair is so high maintenance. I’m usually at the salon every 7-8 weeks to get my roots done. The water here is a little different too so I think it contributes to turning my hair a brassy tone if I am not quick to use a really good purple toning shampoo to rid that awful yellow.
My hair has been many shades over the years; really dark almost black brown, an unfortunate orange-yellow from a very bad home job – no thanks to my sister!;) and of course baylayage. But I always come back to blonde. I love the fresh colour and it makes me feel good. So, to avoid that yuck yellowing or the really bad drying out I use a couple of really good products. But today I am just talking about the star performer out of the bunch. Blonde shampoo.
There are plenty of different blonde shampoos out there, from the grocery store, drug store and salons. In my opinion you need to go for those salon formula’s and spend a bit more for the better quality which gives you better results. I have tried quite a few but I always come back to the same few. So if you are in the market for a new shampoo or would just like to freshen your blonde. Give one of these a try!
