MY FITNESS JOURNEY AND 5 TIPS TO STAY MOTIVATED TO EXERCISE

Prior to starting the BBG I was never really a big fitness person or motivated to work out. The only form of excise I was semi consistent with was going for walks. But walking isn’t always something you can do here in Alberta. It’s basically winter 9 months out of the year, or that’s at least how I feel! It’s spring, almost May and it’s still snowing!! Over the course of my adult life I have been a member of a few gyms, but never really stuck it out long-term. When I moved to Alberta permanently Joe and I joined a gym together for some time, until I fell pregnant with Noah, so quit. Beside feeling sick for 13 weeks, I had no idea pregnant women went to the gym! I honestly (ridiculously) thought that people would look at a pregnant woman weird for working out at the gym or the gym would be concerned incase I was to injure myself at the gym. This was really before Instagram fitness mummies were a huge thing on Instagram and Instagram is life 😉 so had I known about them I’m sure I would have gone whilst pregnant! So I stuck to […]

KEEPING UP WITH KAYLA

Keeping up with Kayla

Pretty much the only K I have an interest in keeping up with these days 😉 I wanted to do an update on my fitness regime. I haven’t done an update since July, my final week of the 12 week program. You can read about that here. I am now on week 9 of my second round and absolutely loving it still. So that is a total of 24 weeks of working out that is including the 4 week beginner routine. As I have said basically the whole way, this is quite an achievement for me, for many reasons. The first that I am living with ISS (read about that here) and secondly because I have never been someone to stick with any exercise regime. I go in and out of phases of what I like to do. But now I have figured out that I really enjoy weight training and resistance. Without a doubt all the definition I have is from these two things. Diet Eating healthy is something that comes easier to me. Often I go on Pinterest looking for clean recipes and healthy desserts. KAYLA ITSINES BBG – WEEK 12

Kayla Itsines BBG - week 12

The final week! I have actually already completed legs so 1 down, 2 more to go. The workouts this week are Legs, Abs and Arms. It’s actually the same workouts as week 9. I have decided to leave my goals for this week be making any goals this week because it’s the final week and really, my biggest goal has been reached. Finishing 16 weeks straight of working out! Never in my life have I stuck with an exercise regime. So to do the 4 week beginner program and then 12 weeks of the actual program is a HUGE feat. I have previously talked about my health here. So being able to complete this workout feels like a great accomplishment. Funnily enough, I am actually looking forward to starting the program over again and seeing my progress. For now I will leave out the weekly posts and perhaps do a monthly recap instead. To give up update on how I am progressing in the workout for the second time. For this weeks workout clothing inspiration I chose items that are more affordable. Both top and pants are under $40 each! I actually think I need to get these leggings asap.   […]

KAYLA ITSINES BBG – WEEK 11

Two weeks to go! Then I will have my dream body and never have to work out again. I wish. But I have decided to start Kayla’s workout all over again. I think it’s a good way to test out my fitness and see how far I have come. Hopefully I will find the first couple of weeks easier. Otherwise that’s embarrassing. This week I was so good, I worked out 5 times and ate really healthy. Our traditional weekend pancake breakfast was my “cheat meal” I thought you get a cheat day, but Joe informed me you only get a cheat meal. That was a big blow. But I have soldiered on and haven’t lost my cool at anyone from lack of sugar yet, so something must be working. I did drink more water, maybe its true, drinking lots of water does keep cravings at bay. Why can’t I do both though? I drank less coffee, I won’t get into numbers because it was only marginally better. Last weeks goal (you can read them all here) of going to bed earlier kind of, sort of happened, I went to bed earlier maybe 3 out of 7 nights.     […]

KAYLA ITSINES BBG – WEEK 10

Ok so if you saw my previous post then you know my eating healthy did take a dive somewhere over the long weekend. But seriously those milkshakes were too good to not have. You can see what I mean here For some reason this week I didn’t drink much water like I normally do. I actually normally drink 2-3 litres. It was more like 1 most days this week. I have really been into making iced coffees which I think is taking away from my water consumption. I always start my day off with a hot coffee and then I have 1-2 iced coffees later throughout the day. So I’m trying to cut back. I have also been feeling really uninspired when it comes to breakfast. I kind of just cannot be bothered making anything. So some days I have just been having toast. Which I don’t find satisfying at all.  I think I’m going to have to go to my Pinterest and get some inspiration. However I did start my week with this yummy yogurt parfait which I think I will continue eating for the rest of the week, or at least until the berries run out. Which could […]

KAYLA ITSINES BBG – WEEK 9

Kayla Itsines BBG week 9

Another week and another round of BBG! Somehow we have gotten into the VERY bad habit of eating ice cream almost nightly. I don’t know how it came up, but it did and now I need to kick the habit. I think we have tried just about every flavour of this new stumbled upon brand, so its good timing really. Legs killed me this week! I really hate training legs. I find it so hard, which I know is a really good thing and its all about pushing yourself blah blah, but my god it gets hard, like, light-headed can’t catch my breath hard, oh and the sweat! My favourite is arms then abs. I’m seeing some great results! As for my previous weeks goals I did complete one cardio out of the two. It rained most of the week. I did go to bed early a couple of times but no matter what time I put my head on the pillow one of the kids always wakes up. Murphy’s Law. But it’s a new week, so its a new workout and new goals!
