Right now Nordstrom is holding their half-yearly sale! Which has savings of up to 40% off right now through to June 4th. What a perfect time to do some shopping! While most bloggers are posting their favourite fashion items (which is also something I love) I thought I would be a little different and just go straight to my favourite home items! Home shopping is one of my favourite things to do. I will definitely be purchasing both curtains that I posted. The pom-pom ones in particular are gorgeous, would love to put them in Siena’s room! And those rugs are amazing! We really need some new ones in our home! I could go on and on…Now, to just a few of my favourites.. Charlie Duvet Cover, Embroidered Pillow, Turkish Pestemal Towel, Juno Handwoven Rug, Pom Pom Window Panels, Serving Tray, Annabel Rug, Beach Wall Art Gallery, Copper Mug Flamingo Wine Glasses, Toast Rack, Table Runner, Book Board, Wool Blend Rug, Blue Throw, Herringbone Rug, Bath Towel, Blackout Panels Happy Shopping!
This may long weekend marked my 1 year blogging anniversary! When I started my blog I was so nervous and if I am being honest self-conscious and intimidated. Another new blogger amongst the million others out there. What makes me different? The real difference is that there is no one else out there who is me! So that’s a start. But my main reason to start my blog was to keep my family and friends who spread far and wide up to date. And to have a space where I talk about pretty much everything and anything that I love or want to vent about or get emotional on and maybe along the way others can relate or join in on life’s highs and lo’s and the every day’s of motherhood! You can read my very first post here if you like! At least the weather has been amazing this year! But Joe was away, all long weekend at a bucks. I am ashamed to admit that I was dreading it. The kids and I are always together monday to friday. To say we are all equally excited to have daddy home with us on weekends is probably an understatement. We usually go out […]
We are certainly not seasoned travellers when it comes to travelling with toddlers. We have done plenty of travelling prior to kids and man do I miss those days! But when we do travel with our kids we tend to do the long long long (feels like eternity) haul flights. I am sure there are longer flights than Calgary to Sydney but that total of 18+hours of travel time (in air and layovers) is long enough! My main tip would be to keep the on board bag simple! The first time I travelled with Noah I was actually pregnant with him, so that doesn’t count. It was nice though, I had 3 whole seats to myself and I literally slept the entire time. Shortest flight of my life. However as Murphy’s law goes, the chances of having 1 free seat let alone 3 next to you, when you are travelling with babies or children is slim to none. My first solo trip with Noah to Australia was when he was 11 months. I was very lucky enough to have a spare seat next to me and then there was a lady at the window who was lovely and even offered help […]
This weekend was a truly wonderful weekend. I am so lucky to have these sweet little people in my life! They made me a mama and they are so worth every single cold meal, mum bun, public tantrum, snotty shoulder, sleepless night, sudocream mess and endless worry. They are all mine and made my life all the better. I was spoilt with beautiful flowers, some gifts, I may have bought a couple 😉 and a breakfast of poached eggs and smashed avo. Who knew the man could cook? I propose he makes breakfast every weekend! I was able to sleep in till 8.30am, which in our house is a pretty big sleep in! I had a longgg bath with some lush products, that I bought intending to have this child free bath and we had mimosas all morning. Although, it has to be said, the day is definitely not about gifts and I would have been happy without the gifts – the sleep in and bath alone would have been perfect enough. I think the main thing is each mama deserves some appreciation for all the hard work she puts in. Mother’s day really makes me appreciate my own mother all […]
When I was pregnant with Noah we, like all first time parents, had no idea what to expect. We went into parenthood with no preconceived notion in terms of routine and parenting style. I read a couple of books on pregnancy and the first year, we also did a 6 week newborn parenting class but that was the extent. For us, I think going in open-minded worked. Once Siena came into the picture it was easy to adjust and add her into Noah’s routine. Of course it was no easy transition and thank god for my mum staying with us for a few weeks. But, we knew what worked in the past and what didn’t. All babies are different, ours were like chalk and cheese. Siena napped and slept amazing, Noah did not. Noah was not a good sleeper, I would ask what newborns are, but I have heard the contrary from some lucky parents! If he wasn’t sleeping on us then he was wake every hour, the only thing consoling him was boob. Back then I had absolutely no clue that he was using me as a dummy, I actually thought he was feeding for 3 hours straight! Seriously […]
I am going to make a slight contradiction to an older blog post I wrote, called Motherhood, for your reference if you have not already read it. But I am ok with that because that’s life and that’s motherhood, well parenthood. Lots of peaks and valleys. I am drinking wine on a week night, not my norm but a little insight into my last few days (weeks?). And to be honest, I totally get why people drink during the week, if you have kids, like, dah. Now, it goes without saying I love my kids, I love them with all my heart, they have given me a purpose I never knew I had, they are my everything, my world, my life. But sometimes, just sometimes they can really make being a mum questionable. (Note: see my above devotion to my children!). I know as mothers we don’t want to take for granted the fact that we are able to have children in the first place. We brought them into this world, it’s our job to keep it together and take the positive parenting approach to raising them. But on the other hand I think it’s okay to complain because my god it can […]
