EASTER LONG WEEKEND 2017

EASTER LONG WEEKEND 2017

Thank god for long weekends! 😉 This weekend was an exciting one. Mostly because the easter bunny came and me and the kids ate heaps of chocolate. Probably too much, I actually feel sick…The weather was undecided, it was rainy, snowy and sunny over the 3 days. I know I talk about the weather a lot, but I really need spring to ‘spring’ already! Friday was a lazy day. We played at the park and went for a walk to the cafe for a much needed coffee.         On Saturday Joe and I got away and were child free! It was amazing. I love those monsters but god it’s nice to eat in a restaurant without having to chase down an over excited 3 year old who is always closely followed by his little sister who just wants to do what he’s doing. Its exhausting. As most parents would know. So we actually got to eat in peace and didn’t have to inhale our food. But the best part, we went car shopping! We are upgrading my crossover for a bigger SUV. I seriously cannot wait! Even though we spent most of the day at the dealership it […]

15 FACTS ABOUT ME!

15 FACTS ABOUT ME

I want YOU to get to know me! Some of my readers are new to my corner, others have known me for some time but there maybe a thing or two you don’t know about me yet! It was actually kind of hard to write this list, turns out I don’t really have that many interesting facts about myself! But here goes!   15 Facts about me! I was vegetarian for 7 years. One day in year 9 I decided to go vegetarian and stopped eating meat from then on. Much to my mothers dismay of having to make a separate meal for me each meal (because she’s the best, whose mum wants to make separate meals for everyone?!) I lived in London for 12 months when I was 21, almost to the day. After that I did not want to live anywhere else in the world. Yet here I am, living in Canada for the past 6 years 😉 I met my love/baby daddy/future husband (?) on Contiki and we barely said two words to each other the entire time! I am the youngest of 3. I have an older brother and older sister. When I was young, like […]

PHOTOS FROM THE WEEKEND

Photos from the weekend

This past weekend was an ordinary one. We started off as normal with swimming lessons but they were unfortunately cut short by someones bodily functions. Always someone who has to ruin it 😛 I am not exactly sure on what it was but I think it’s best we keep it that way! The kids both have minor colds that they can’t seem to shake! This weather is driving me nuts, is it warm, is it cold, rain, snow? Pick one! So both kids were up all night on Saturday, Noah coughing and Siena irritable for some reason. I have not had that little amount of sleep in a long time. Siena would not sleep without being on me or next to me. It was a night of musical beds. Joe and Noah in our bed, Siena and me in Noah’s bed. All the coffee couldn’t keep me awake. Poor kids, poor us 😉 We tried to go to the nursery to get some ideas on what we can do in our backyard but the kid’s weren’t having it. We left with two very tired, very cranky, very loud crying toddlers. Oh the joys of parenthood! The highlight was definitely getting […]

MOTHERHOOD

MOTHERHOOD

I have been a mother for 3 years, 2 months, 3 weeks and 5 days. It doesn’t really sound like a long time and if you were to use that time frame for anything else it wouldn’t seem long. But as a mother it is a long time. A life time. 3 years, 2 months, 3 weeks and 5 days I have been responsible for a little person. 100% completely responsible for another life. That is just unreal! Then we added another one to the mix, 13 months after the first. I have two little people who rely on me for everything (and their father, obviously). Their whole lives revolve around me. Saying that out loud puts so much into perspective. Some days are so good. We all wake in happy moods. Meals are eaten with little fuss, the kids actually listen to me, we play inside, we play outside and Noah is gentle with Siena. Lots of kisses and cuddles are exchanged, we play games, read books and make crafts. I am able to workout without interruptions, we get some household chores done and I can cook dinner without meltdowns. And then some days I just want space. I don’t want little […]

EASTER GIFT GUIDE FOR THE LITTLE ONES

I know Easter is not about gifts and if anything it should just be celebrated as a religious festival. But, of course, we do celebrate it with the family whether we go to church or not and eat a lot of chocolate, like, a lot and various other festive foods over that long weekend. In saying that, I am not even sure what we are doing yet! If you’re like me, then you don’t really want your kids eating a lot of chocolate. I am totally okay with some, we are human and it’s nice to treat your kids from time to time but I think small amounts are best. Especially when they are so young. Noah being 3 this year I’m okay with a little chocolate. Like a kinder surprise egg or the like but Siena I am reluctant to give any. Maybe a mini egg or a bit broken off from my (hopefully) giant egg 😉 So I have put together a little Easter gift guide for the little ones of alternative ideas to chocolates. Just fun little options. Nothing extravagant-I mean, it’s not Christmas. Little gifts you could put in a hamper/Easter basket or maybe in a dollar store […]

CHOCOLATE CHIA AVOCADO SMOOTHIE

Chocolate chia avocado smoothie

This chocolate chia avocado smoothie came about because I was experimenting with trying to add avocado to my smoothies. There is a local place near us that has the most delicious pineapple avocado smoothies. Pinterest is full of recipes with avocado in them. Plus it’s one of my most favourite fruits (fruit, who knew?) The health benefits of Avocado Avocados are packed full of nutrients. Such as Vitamin K (which helps with blood clotting, prevents heart disease and is essential in growing strong bones), Folate (our bodies need this to make DNA and other genetics, which is essential for unborn babies), Potassium (more than bananas!) High in fibre – Which can reduce blood sugar spikes, aids in weight loss and helps with gut health. Lowers Cholesterol Eating Avocados with other highly nutritious foods actually helps you absorb the nutrients from the other foods The antioxidants (Lutein and Zeaxanthin) in avocados are great for your eyes These are just a few points of how amazing Avocados are for you!  Just like avocados chia seeds are SO good for you as well. So together in this smoothie, these two pack a high nutrition, powerful punch! This particular smoothie came about because I […]
