CHOCOLATE CHIA AVOCADO SMOOTHIE

Chocolate chia avocado smoothie

This chocolate chia avocado smoothie came about because I was experimenting with trying to add avocado to my smoothies. There is a local place near us that has the most delicious pineapple avocado smoothies. Pinterest is full of recipes with avocado in them. Plus it’s one of my most favourite fruits (fruit, who knew?) The health benefits of Avocado Avocados are packed full of nutrients. Such as Vitamin K (which helps with blood clotting, prevents heart disease and is essential in growing strong bones), Folate (our bodies need this to make DNA and other genetics, which is essential for unborn babies), Potassium (more than bananas!) High in fibre – Which can reduce blood sugar spikes, aids in weight loss and helps with gut health. Lowers Cholesterol Eating Avocados with other highly nutritious foods actually helps you absorb the nutrients from the other foods The antioxidants (Lutein and Zeaxanthin) in avocados are great for your eyes These are just a few points of how amazing Avocados are for you!  Just like avocados chia seeds are SO good for you as well. So together in this smoothie, these two pack a high nutrition, powerful punch! This particular smoothie came about because I […]

TO MY LITTLE LOVES

TO MY LITTLE LOVES

To my little loves, I love you, I love you, I love you. I know I can yell, or be demanding or rush you at times. Sometimes It seems like I may not be listening, or watching you or I am busy doing something else. I can seem mean, or occupied or shout. But I want you both to know how much I love you. That I am always listening, always watching. I see all the jumps you do and the towers you build. The make believe conversations between the little people bus driver and the stuffed flamingo. I see those sweet tender moments you two share, you don’t even know those moments are so special. I see the delighted look on your faces when you have achieved something. Sometimes I am the only person who knows what you’re saying or trying to say and I am secretly proud of that. I know you two, my precious babies. So well. I will forever be your mama, here to hold your hand and guide you through the scary and uneasy times. I hope that you feel like you can always come to me, no matter how big or small your dilemma. I will […]

THREE!!

three

Boy oh boy, my little boy is THREE! Not going to lie, I’ll be happy to kiss two goodbye. That was a tough year. PEACE! We celebrated Noah’s birthday at Taronga zoo! I have been to a few zoos and I may be slightly biased but it really is an impressive zoo with spectacular views of the city! After our fun day at the zoo we went home and ate cake. A monster truck themed birthday cake made by yours truly. I must say, pretty impressed with this years attempt! Thanks Pinterest. Noah, you are truly one of a kind. You are so funny, adventurous, curious and never shy. You may turn me full grey before my next birthday or have us in the emergency room at some point with your Evil Kinevil ways but I wouldn’t change a thing. You are never short of kisses, always wanting to help and lately you always want to hold my hand. You come into our bed at some point almost every night and we actually love it – except we will be dusting off that gro clock and whipping you into shape soon…when we are ready to give up some sleep, so live […]

MY BABY GIRL TURNED ONE!

my baby girl turned one

It’s a little funny to be writing this post now when Siena turned one back in November but so much happened while we were away so I’m playing catch up! Also, I really want to have all these memories to look back on. Plus it feels like just yesterday I had her and celebrated her first birthday! She is already 14 months old! Stop growing!! We had her party at my sisters. It was a stinking hot day, the best weather 😉. She wore a crown and tutu and we had fairy bread, party pies and sausage rolls, lollies and ice cream cake. It was perfect. More or less a quintessential Aussie little kids birthday party! Except she had a gourmet-maybe slightly inappropriately named-gelato ice cream – dr evils magic mushroom – cake from Mesina (best gelato place) which is a step up from some of my 90s Woolworths ice cream birthday cakes! Sorry mum! I’m not complaining😋 Siena at One.. You have so much personality, you just want to follow and play with your brother all day, you are very cautious, you started walking (completely) at 14 months, you are so smart, you have curly hair that grows naturally into a Mohawk, you were […]

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2016

Funny, this time last year I was pregnant with Siena and so ready to pop! My mum had arrived that day. We all went trick or treating so it was fun to show her a North American Halloween, which is celebrated greater than it is in Australia! Our little minion didn’t understand what was going on but he was happy to get a packet of chips out of his stash 😉 This year was a lot of fun! It was Siena’s first Halloween and with Noah being older we went trick or treating to quite a few houses. Noah got really into it once he realised he was literally getting treats! He was really just saying “treat!” When someone answered the door. People are very generous, so he did get quite a lot. We were really just enjoying the experience with him more so than trying to get a bunch of junk food. In the end he did very well. Of course he won’t get to actually eat most of it but it was all just fun to dress up and have fun. Funny thing with Noah, he actually hates to dress up, he had two parties at daycare for Halloween and […]

DROPPING THE NAP

Dropping the nap

For the past few months Noah has been a nightmare to put down to sleep of an evening. He would go down perfectly fine without a fight for his naps, but when it came to bed time he would fight us. It was every night without fail, it would take up to 1.5 hrs. We tried a few things to get him to settle and fall asleep. We tried laying with him, sitting on the floor beside him, putting him back into bed without any eye contact or talking to him; super nanny style. Essential oils, warm milk, salt lamp, black out blinds. You name it, we tried it. This entire time we assumed he needed the day nap, 9 times out of 10 he went down for a nap without an issue. And according to some online research children do not drop naps till they are between 3-5 years of age. Maybe he is? But he is only 2.5 years old. However, our Noah has never really been a child to conform to “normal time lines”. Having said that, I have also heard of a lot of children dropping their naps as early as 2, or before. Yesterday I […]
