Yesterday a mummy friend and I organized to spend a day at the Zoo. It was a gorgeous day. 25 degrees and perfect to be outside. We had been many times last summer but haven’t been since. It was so fun to take the two older kids back. They are both 2.5 years old so this time around they really enjoyed seeing all the animals. Last year Noah was terrified of the dinosaur exhibit, I thought this year he would be better, he has quite a few dinosaur toys and he’s seen a few dino movies, surely this year he would appreciate it. I thought wrong. He was just as terrified, only difference is this time he was scared at the sight and sound of the very first dinosaur. Last year we got all the way to the giant T-Rex which is at the end. I guess we will just stick to the movie the good dinosaur for now. I was obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid so I have to say I’m taking this a little to heart 😉 Noah’s jam is the fish, they are all Nemo to him so they were a hit as well as the […]
Rain. All. Week. End Another Saturday spent inside all day. But it really wasn’t terrible. There is something cozy about spending a rainy day inside. Plus we had some fun. We made up for it on Sunday. We took a mini road trip drove to Cochrane for a wander around and ice cream; which is never a bad idea. Mackay’s ice cream in Cochrane usually always has a line up out the front but we got lucky. Even though it was a beautiful day for some reason it was a ghost town. Probably because Calgary Stampede was offering free admission before midday. Whatever the reason, we got our ice cream quick which is necessary when you have an excited 2-year-old. After Cochrane we drove to Bragg Creek, we have never really spent time there but its beautiful. It’s a quaint little town, surrounded by a large forest and lots of hiking trails. You instantly feel like you are in the mountains and not at all like a half hour away from Calgary. We were lucky enough to spot a few deer. We will probably be back soon!
Monday again. Why do long weekends feel like they go quicker and the week following always feels longer? We had a really fun weekend! If you didn’t already see how we spent our Canada day, you can read it here. We spent Saturday in the city. I actually really wanted to try a healthy juice place I found on Instagram but turns out they are closed on a weekend. Why even? So instead we went to Eau Claire. It is an area in the city that has always been on our list of places to visit. Its beautiful. We walked around Prince Island Park and watched the ducks with Noah. We stumbled on a playground and let Noah have a play. We couldn’t really walk past a play ground and expect him to be okay with that. Consequently we had to drag him kicking and screaming because we were starving and hadn’t had breakfast. No thanks to the juice place not being open! We came across a kids splash pool, we had to stop, mainly because Noah had seen it and also we were all really hot from walking in the gorgeous weather! […]
We went to Joe’s parents cabin today. It has actually been a verrrry long time since we have been. The cabin is about 1.5-2 hours drive from us. Which isn’t too bad but when you have two kids 1.5-2 hours turns into 2-3 hours, due to getting supplies; mama and daddas starbucks + road snacks, packing everything but the kitchen sink “do you think we need this? what about this?” “yeah just pack it”. Stopping to breastfeed half way, it takes up a lot of extra time. But in the end we got there, we celebrated fathers day, we ate, we drank and we had a nice time. We really didn’t get too many pictures because we were so busy catching up and looking after the babies but here’s what we did capture. So apparently we have to get a dog now. As much as I would love a nice big family dog, we aren’t interested right now. I have enough poo to clean up! Gotta go..We just started Orange is the new black!
We live an hour and a bit from the mountains. It’s actually a beautiful drive. Before kids we would go quite often. Joe would go almost every weekend in winter because he’s a snowboarder. Since having kids we don’t really get out there. But as I have mentioned in a previous post, we are trying to make more of an effort to get out and see and do more things as a family. So today we decided to have a day in the mountains. We drove to Canmore. We love it there. It’s close to Banff and lake Louise but not as touristy. It has a lot of cafes, restaurants and little shops in the main town centre and lots of walking tracks and activities to do surrounding. We didn’t make any plans on what exactly we would do but that’s actually the best part! So we got our Starbucks and hit the road! First stop was at Grassi Lakes. We weren’t in our active wear to actually hike so we just walked about 20 minutes on a track. We walked closer to the waterfall to get some photos and let Noah run around and burn off some energy. […]
Happy Monday! What a weekend it was! It was beautiful here in Calgary! We spent most of our time outside soaking up the warm sun and Noah spraying everyone with the hose coz it was just hilarious! #sarcasm We have decided that we need to spend more time doing little trips and adventures around where we live. Nothing expensive, but enough to have fun family day trips and to see what our city/province has to offer. So this weekend we went to Saskatoon farm. We have never been. It’s beautiful. They are a nursery but also have a cafe and gift shop. The cafe was packed and as previously mentioned, we have a two-year old and no grandparents to chase him so, we just walked around and ate Saskatoon berry ice cream, which was probably one of the best ice creams I have had! I won’t tell you about the A&W burgers we got at the drive through 😉 and yes I am still doing the Kayla Itsines workout 😛 its all about balance👍 Anyway, the Saskatoon farm was great. Really pretty, maybe sans children (or 2 year olds) would be easier to navigate your way around, eat at the […]
