Thank god for long weekends! 😉 This weekend was an exciting one. Mostly because the easter bunny came and me and the kids ate heaps of chocolate. Probably too much, I actually feel sick…The weather was undecided, it was rainy, snowy and sunny over the 3 days. I know I talk about the weather a lot, but I really need spring to ‘spring’ already!
Friday was a lazy day. We played at the park and went for a walk to the cafe for a much needed coffee.
On Saturday Joe and I got away and were child free! It was amazing. I love those monsters but god it’s nice to eat in a restaurant without having to chase down an over excited 3 year old who is always closely followed by his little sister who just wants to do what he’s doing. Its exhausting. As most parents would know. So we actually got to eat in peace and didn’t have to inhale our food. But the best part, we went car shopping! We are upgrading my crossover for a bigger SUV. I seriously cannot wait! Even though we spent most of the day at the dealership it was so nice to just be the two of us.
Sunday we were woken very early by an excited 3-year-old. It was hard to contain him in our room while we waited for Siena to wake, but thank you YouTube Kids! We had a trail of chocolate eggs from the top of the stairs all the way down to the living room where their little easter baskets were. So we started off our day as I’m sure a lot of kids did, with chocolate as breakfast! It’s one day out of the year that I will let them do this. So breakfast was pushed to brunch and I made eggs Benedict, it’s my favourite! I’m not going to lie, I make a mean eggs benny 🙂
Later we had an egg hunt outside too, I am not sure why I bought so many eggs, safe to say working out on monday will be 10 times harder with the extra weight I gained. Also, I don’t want to see another egg for a long time. But let’s face it. I will eat more again tomorrow night when the kids are asleep and I may or may not be eating them right now, as I type this.
We finished this marvellous weekend off with a roast chicken and veggies, made by yours truly. Just call me Martha 😉 but really, I have never made a roast chicken before in my life, and then if that wasn’t topping my culinary arts enough, I made chicken stock with what was left. Just let me gloat. I feel pretty good about this.
All in all, it was a fun easter long weekend! I am really looking forward to my sweet angels sugar withdrawals over the next few days…
I hope you had a wonderful Easter too! What did you do?
