Are we already going into the new year? I know everyone says that and it gets annoying, but really. I feel like we just entered 2017! We were in hot humid Sydney and it was so lovely. But we are in cold, and I mean very very cold, Alberta. It’s consistently been -25 or colder for the last week, that’s without a wind chill. I don’t even want to know what the temperature would be with the wind chill! If you have never experienced that sort of wether you sort of assume if people were to leave their houses and go into the elements they would freeze into a statue, I did, but somehow, you don’t!
I took the past week off social media and blogging to just enjoy family time and this magical time of year. We had a great christmas with the kids and extended family and friends. Christmas becomes a lot more fun and special when you have kids of your own, but also a lot more exhausting. I needed a few days after to recover!
2017 was a really good year. Blogging wise I worked with some great brands and saw a lot of growth in my readers and followers. Family wise; we went on a lot of adventures and had a really wonderful summer. Noah started preschool and is doing amazing. There will always by trying and difficult times but it was a year to really focus on us and what we want and need for our family and we made some of those big decisions so we have a lot of exciting things to look forward to.
Things I want to focus on in the new year..
- Be more present with the kids. Put the phone away and stop what I am doing and play with them more
- Travel more. Not necessarily hopping on a plane but seeing more of Alberta. Show the kids their own back yard and go on more adventures!
- Relax more – Learn to let go of the things I cannot change.
- Appreciate all the things we already have!
We will be celebrating the New Year by making some pizzas, drinking bubbly and watching the ball drop on TV. Quite honestly, that’s like my perfect night in too! I love watching the news the next day and seeing how the rest of the world celebrated! It makes me so proud to be an Aussie because I really do think the Australian fireworks in the Sydney Harbour are always the best. Joe and I spent a new years on Sydney harbour and out of all the places and styles I have spent ringing in the New Year, in the world, It was by far the best!
Happy New Year everyone!
