DRUGSTORE SKINCARE PRODUCTS + UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE

DRUGSTORE SKINCARE PRODUCTS + UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE

Recently all of my products ran out, pretty much around the same time – why does that always seem to happen even when the time before I bought each product at completely separate times? Anyway, because I needed several products and was not near a Sephora, I thought I would give some drugstore brands a go. Ones that I have no yet used but all had some great reviews. Indeed laboratories – pepta-bright  – An even skin tone enhancer. It claims to improve your skin clarity and even tone, Diminish the appearance of dark brown spots, restore luminosity and radiance and maintain your skins moisture levels. It’s also formulated without parabens, colours and fragrance. This one has many great reviews so stay tuned for mine! No7 Defence day cream – SPF 30 which is the main thing I look for in day creams. I just finished up my favourite every day SPF moisturiser from Tarte. But they are sold out in-store and online too. I am assuming this will not compare but we shall see how this one goes! L’oreal eye defence cream gel  – Reduces puffiness, lines and dark circles. These days I wake up with all of the above. I […]

MY OWN HERB AND VEGGIE PATCH

MY OWN HERB AND VEGGIE PATCH

This weekend was BEAUTIFUL! After last weekend and because the weather was so amazing we stayed home and had a lot of nice outside family time, and some much-needed gardening done! When we bought our house I had big plans to have an area for my own herb and veggie patch. A place where I can grow all the herbs, veggies and fruits that I love and have the kids help me too. In theory it sounds lovely. In reality it was MESSY. The kids had a great time digging in the fresh soil, throwing it everywhere. Siena in particular, rubbing it in her hair. They both still have dirt under their nails so it’s clear they had a good time 🙂 What the pictures don’t show is shopping for said herbs and veggies with said children. You won’t be finding any magical photography award-worthy photos on this blog of us skipping hand in hand down the isles of the nursery wearing our linen rompers, because that my friends, is just not our reality (although, that sounds so fun!). Our reality started off having to slum it with the regular shopping trolley because the special car trolleys were all gone […]

MAY LONG WEEKEND – 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

MAY LONG WEEKEND - 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

This may long weekend marked my 1 year blogging anniversary! When I started my blog I was so nervous and if I am being honest self-conscious and intimidated. Another new blogger amongst the million others out there. What makes me different? The real difference is that there is no one else out there who is me! So that’s a start. But my main reason to start my blog was to keep my family and friends who spread far and wide up to date. And to have a space where I talk about pretty much everything and anything that I love or want to vent about or get emotional on and maybe along the way others can relate or join in on life’s highs and lo’s and the every day’s of motherhood! You can read my very first post here if you like! At least the weather has been amazing this year! But Joe was away, all long weekend at a bucks. I am ashamed to admit that I was dreading it. The kids and I are always together monday to friday. To say we are all equally excited to have daddy home with us on weekends is probably an understatement. We usually go out […]

PACKING SIMPLE FOR TODDLERS WHEN FLYING

Packing simple for toddlers when flying

We are certainly not seasoned travellers when it comes to travelling with toddlers. We have done plenty of travelling prior to kids and man do I miss those days! But when we do travel with our kids we tend to do the long long long (feels like eternity) haul flights. I am sure there are longer flights than Calgary to Sydney but that total of 18+hours of travel time (in air and layovers) is long enough! My main tip would be to keep the on board bag simple! The first time I travelled with Noah I was actually pregnant with him, so that doesn’t count. It was nice though, I had 3 whole seats to myself and I literally slept the entire time. Shortest flight of my life. However as Murphy’s law goes, the chances of having 1 free seat let alone 3 next to you, when you are travelling with babies or children is slim to none. My first solo trip with Noah to Australia was when he was 11 months. I was very lucky enough to have a spare seat next to me and then there was a lady at the window who was lovely and even offered help […]

MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND

MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND

This weekend was a truly wonderful weekend. I am so lucky to have these sweet little people in my life! They made me a mama and they are so worth every single cold meal, mum bun, public tantrum, snotty shoulder, sleepless night, sudocream mess and endless worry. They are all mine and made my life all the better. I was spoilt with beautiful flowers, some gifts, I may have bought a couple 😉 and a breakfast of poached eggs and smashed avo. Who knew the man could cook? I propose he makes breakfast every weekend! I was able to sleep in till 8.30am, which in our house is a pretty big sleep in! I had a longgg bath with some lush products, that I bought intending to have this child free bath and we had mimosas all morning. Although, it has to be said, the day is definitely not about gifts and I would have been happy without the gifts – the sleep in and bath alone would have been perfect enough. I think the main thing is each mama deserves some appreciation for all the hard work she puts in. Mother’s day really makes me appreciate my own mother all […]
