On Saturday we got our very first real christmas tree! There is always the option to go to any of the big grocery stores and retail/hardware stores but we actually drove about an hour and a half into the mountains to the Calgary junior forest warden society in Kananaskis. They have a lovely big warm fire going, you can also get hot chocolate and hotdogs.

We walked around throughout the trees. Turns out picking the perfect christmas tree isn’t that easy. The type we could cut down was a pine tree. Those trees don’t tend to be too dense and full. The kids had a lot of fun walking in the snow, stumbling and tripping, Siena eating the snow, Noah wanting to help daddy cut down trees. The whole experience would have been a 10 if it wasn’t for the gunshots we could here not too far off in the distance.

After about 40 minutes adventuring around we finally found our perfect christmas tree! It was nice and full and didn’t have to be trimmed too much. We also cut another much smaller tree too. Because, for $5 you can cut down up to 3 christmas trees. Why wouldn’t you get more than one and make your house extra christmassy?

It’s really starting to feel more like christmas now. This weekend we have had christmas music on repeat, mulled wine on the stove and the christmassy scents going.

How fun! I’ve never picked and cut my own Christmas Tree before. Most of the trees here are palm trees haha. But normally we just go to Home Depot and pick one out from a tent!
