TEA FOR TWO – A SECOND BIRTHDAY PARTY THEME

Tea For Two - A second birthday party theme

This past weekend we had Siena’s birthday party and the theme was “tea of two” I was scrolling pinterest, as you do and found another second birthday party that had the same theme and I thought it was amazing! I chose rose gold banner because, rose gold, who doesn’t love rose gold? I love the idea of a tea party theme!

The guest list was small, she’s two so doesn’t have a lot of little friends. We had immediate family, from Joe’s side because mine are obviously in Australia and invited my close girlfriends and their girls, which I guess are Noah’s close girlfriends haha!

I had the local bakery make the most amazing cake. I’ll be honest, I teared up when I saw it. It was exactly what I wanted and more! I know it doesn’t go with a high tea theme but I have always wanted one of these amazing unicorn cakes and this was pretty much my only opportunity. It was a little upsetting to cut such a gorgeous thing up, but it tasted pretty great too! I also had the same company make what they call Unicorn cookies as the take home treat and they were delicious!

The Decorations

I sourced a few companies through instagram and Etsy for the final details like the Tea for Two Banner, table confetti, cake topper, thank you tags and her gorgeous dress (stripe blue no longer available but they have this cute pink one). The cake stand, tea pot, pastel bowls and tiered stand were from homesense (I LOVE that place!) The pink paper pom poms were from the dollar store, and the tea cups were from the Salvation Army. I was planning to get everything from thrift stores, but I was disappointed to find they had nothing more than tea cups. Which by the way. I love my new tea cups! It makes such a difference to drink tea from a tea cup rather than a mug, don’t you think? The letter board, which I loveeeee was sent from felt like sharing there is a Canadian retailer Astor and Clove that will also be stocking this hot item. I love letter boards. It’s so great to put up all sorts of different witty sayings and quotes. I also bought two $10 flower bouquets from the grocery store and divided them up between different vases and the tea pot.

The Menu

I made little fruit cups, sandwich triangles (ham cheese and tomato, cucumber and cream cheese, Tuna, Egg and mayo) cut up carrot and celery with humus and ranch dip and an assortment of crackers with cheddar and apple smoked cheese. An hour or so after our guests arrived I served some hot food which was mini quiches and mini sausage rolls, I put those on the tiered cake stand. I also had rainbow goldfish, Doritos, pastel jelly bellies and rock sugar lolly pops. I had an assortment of teas, mimosas, coffee, baileys and coffees and juice boxes for the kids. Mimosas were the popular choice! Seriously, why don’t I start all my weekends with bubbles and orange juice?

The day was gorgeous, I am still not able to bring myself to take down the tea for two banner but I guess all good things come to an end. And now that the birthdays in this household are done for the year, we can move on to christmas!

Omg how sweet! I love this theme. If I ever had a girl, I’d totally do this!

It was honestly so much fun to throw. Going to the thrift stores was fun to find little things and you can’t go past morning tea/high tea foods!
